Chinwesly asked me in a video yesterday whether or not my girlfriend can speak English. The answer is yes, because we are using English now, and have done so for about 6 months. Before that however, we almost always used Chinese, simply because it was easier to communicate with.
ZT is an art design major, so English isn't in her job description really. But for the last little while, because we will one day be moving elsewhere probably, she needs to know at least English, maybe French. Unless I can find a job in journalism or doing something artsy-fartsy in China, I'm hoping to move somewhere French-speaking next.
To be honest, a 9-5 job in international trade or translation doesn't much appeal to me (although huge sums of money might soften my heart). My ideal jobs: journalist, writer, professor. ZT's ideal jobs: Interior designer, architect.
And for those of you who follow the news: I find the comment below the link both amusing and thought-worthy. This world is definitely changing.
Outcry after French court rules on virginity
"Can we move the international art treasures out of the Louvre before the barbarians sack it?"
Picture: I'm told it's art.

(Response to Kamik: Thanks so much for that link, I just watched a whole pile of his videos and enjoyed them immensely. I don't, however, agree with his view on the efforts to control foreigners during the olympics. No laws have actually changed in the coming of the summer, it's only that existing laws are going to be enforced. So long as people are here legally, they shouldn't have much of a problem. I'll follow his blog and let you know if I have anything else to say about it! And also about the French thing, thanks a lot, when the time comes I'll remember you!)
